Deskwhale vs Intercom
Intercom has no free plan and charges $0.99 for every answer its bot resolves. Deskwhale is the opposite trade: far less product, no meter.
Everything below was checked against Intercom’s own pages on 1 October 2026. Prices change — if you are reading this much later, check the links at the bottom.

When Intercom is the better choice
Genuinely — these are not softened weaknesses, they are things Intercom does that Deskwhale does not do at all.
- Intercom is a different weight class: ticketing, 350+ integrations, mobile SDKs, a multilingual help centre, email, SMS, WhatsApp and social channels.
- Fin learns from more sources than Deskwhale’s bot — help centre, documents, connected systems — not just a page of text you write.
- For a support team of ten with the budget for it, Intercom is stronger at nearly everything except price.
When Deskwhale is the better choice
- There is a free start. Intercom has no free plan at all.
- The bot does not run a meter. On Intercom every resolution Fin produces is $0.99 on top of seats, so the better your bot works the more you pay.
- Nothing to configure before you see it work: one snippet and a page of notes.
The short version
Deskwhale is a live chat widget with an AI bot that answers from your own knowledge base, and stops when it runs out of it. It has no mobile apps, no WhatsApp or Instagram, no ticketing and no CRM integrations — if you need those, take Intercom and do not look back. If you want a chat on your site and a bot that will not invent your refund policy, this is the simpler trade.
